PRESS RELEASE
For optimal emergency care in Luxembourg
Emergency and disaster medicine professionals unite in a new scientific society to serve patients in Luxembourg.
Luxembourg, October 1, 2026 – The Luxembourg Society of Emergency Medicine (SLMU), which has defended the interests of emergency medicine in Luxembourg since 2016, is now opening up to all professionals involved in emergency and disaster medicine professionals within a new entity.
The non-profit organization (Asbl) promotes hospital and pre-hospital emergency medicine based on scientific recommendations and recognized standards of good practice to serve patients. Together, emergency physicians, healthcare providers, and more broadly all professionals in emergency and disaster medicine are committed to providing optimal care in emergency situations across our country.
The new Luxembourg Society of Emergency and Disaster Medicine (SLMUC) aims to strengthen the representation of professionals in this medical-nursing discipline and actively contribute to its evolution. It will support its scientific development, foster exchange and collaboration between different stakeholders, and encourage continuing education in the fields of emergency and disaster medicine.
This new dynamic goes hand in hand with the launch of a new website (slmuc.lu).
At the European level, the SLMUC is permanently represented at the UEMS (European Union of Medical Specialists) and is an active member of the EUSEM (European Society for Emergency Medicine).
The first general assembly of the SLMUC will be held on October 21, 2026, and will set future priorities and objectives.
